How do i swing a streamer?

As to set up, I always use a floating line. Most of the time I use the same rig I would use nymphing. In that case I clip the leader to about the 4X and add either one or two BB shot. The streams I fish in the winter are not that big and not much weight is needed to get down in the slower water where they are lurking. Typically use streamers about size 8, but go from 6 to 12 depending on mood or conditions. Sometimes if I need to fish deeper I may need to add some more 4x.

When I fish those large streamers up to about 5" or maybe even more to try for a big guy I generally use a shooting head made from a length of lead core trolling line. This is heavier work, so I use a 6 wt or 7 wt outfit I generally use just for streamers so I can make up a more specialized rig. The other rig allows me to go streamers or nymphs depending on conditions.
