So me and my brand spank'in new $70
NY license headed up to the Esopus today for one last hurrah before the 30th. River was running 650 cubes, which was a pain in the ass to wade. Not much action with the nymphs except for a small bow. Hard to get into position to get good drifts on account of the raging torrent trying to sweep me away, and all of the slime on the rocks conspiring with the current. No olives a poppin either. Sooooo, decided to throw some meat. Rigged up a couple of Slump-busters and fished them upstream Ass Hat style. Covered alot of water, and caught about 12 fish, 8 of which where browns in the 14-16 range. No reservoir bruisers. Maybe next year. Highlight though was the getting to at the same time on the Busters. That, was pretty f'n cool. Props to AJ for the hot tip.
