Fished the gorge with another angler from noon until 6:30. Unfortunately could not stay for the evening fishing as i had to get home. Fished dry dropper with a yellow drake and several different nymphs trailing. Rig was a long dropper (3-4 feet off dry). Caught fish on the dry, beadhead 20 inchers, RS2s, and sulpher emergers. Hooked two dozen landed half that. Not much hatching, some caddis, a few ISOs, couple yellow drakes but nothing in any real quantity. Surprised at the lack of any significant hatch activity and only saw a dozen or less rises in total. Time of day wrong? Fish caught were in random pockets and no concentration of fish was found anywhere. Just an off day or are the major hatches other than evening on the downward spiral? Not what i expected of the gorge in terms of hatch activity, but still hooked a pile of fish. No complaints, just curious...

I fished the gorge yesterday as well. From the same times. Had 7 fish my observations on the river were pretty much the same as yours saw 4 fish rise. The fish I landed were on emerger patterns.
NOTE: Size 18 emergers were trailed behind a caddis larvae. All fish were hooked on the lift at the end of the drift on the emerger
