Not Ranked : 0 Re: Question about holdovers While it's too early to know how our holdover fish will do in marginal trout waters, in our larger, colder rivers like the Pequest, SBR, Musky, BFB, etc. trout have year round habitat. Higher water usually means more fish survive the catch and eat crowds, so we are helped recently by the rains. Marginal waters like most of the Ramapo, sections of the Rockaway, etc. may see decent holdover populations if this summer doesn't get too hot. The time to worry is almost never in June, it's July and August we need to worry about with water temps.
But the rains of the last few weeks are promising to help our trout greatly so long as we don't head into a hot, dry spell during the next 2 months.
