Managed to get out late this afternoon for a little fishing in the Gorge.

I started fishing the lower section of the Gorge in the riffles with a number of different nymphs and had only a look see once.

Moved up to the section above Hoffman's and worked the long stretch.

Behind this rock (river running left to right) there were a couple of trout holding there and chasing emergers every now and then.
I must have made 50 casts into that area with a number of different nymphs, emergers, dry flies with only a couple of look see's.
So I decided just to walk over there and see what the bottom and their holding spot looked like before leaving the stream.

I parked in the upper section of the gorge and while walking in I kept hearing this hollow base drum, I turned and saw this kayaker coming down stream banging off every rock in the stream (I don't believe he missed a single boulder). Brief conversation on that looked like fun...

Just down stream there was another fly fisher in mid stream and as the kayaker came close I believed he over turned his craft. Lucky for him the fly fisher aided in in getting his boat and gear out of the water.

As I passed the kayaker was ok and just collecting his belongings...

I stopped at a pool and watched for a few minutes as the day light started to fade there were a few more risers showing. I changed to a yellow Usual. First case, a trout to hand. Second cast, another trout to hand.

Some of you may remember a thread a few months ago by rford on this fly, may wish to go back and review it.

I enjoy taking scenery photos, as you can see from tonights only attempt at photographing a trout. For some reason just as I am about to take its photo, it manages to get free...

ERROR.... E-6.

At least I got it some what in the frame this time.

Unhooked and released... it's 1 meter leap I have to give that diver a 6.8 score.

Very nice evening to be out fishing.

Not good at fish photos.

PS
Cheers to that young fly fisher for helping the man and his kayak.
