Good morning folks,
i have been reading some recent threads on the
NJ boards and most folks speak about the same few rivers for flyfishing. I am new to the area, having moved from northern
NY. i've spent alot of time fly fishing smaller streams, outlets, creeks and don't mind them one bit. sometimes getting away from the hustle and bustle of the big rivers makes it so much more worthwhile.
so, i came to ask for suggestions and opinions on fishing spots. i just moved to Montclair
NJ (15 miles due west of NYC) and i feel completely bummed out and lost. i am looking for some flyfishable streams/creeks/rivers in the immediate area. i have done some research about some of the bigger streams(Peq, Ramapo, Rockaway) but they all seem to be 45-1hr+ away. this isn't all that terrible, but i'd be more apt to enjoy myself and fish more frequently if there was a possibility to fish 15-20 minutes away.
does anyone have a suggestion of a stream/creak/ flyfishable area near to me?
i appreciate your suggestions. thanks much,
~J
