Question Selling Dad's Fly Fishing Collection

Hello--I have never participated in this forum before but found you searching from here in Michigan. I need advice from experienced fly fisherman (or even regular fisherman). My 85 year old Dad was a lifetime Trout Unlimited member and fisherman--trout stream as well as the bays of NJ on his many boats over the years. He passed away in mid-March--and I was just back this weekend trying to determine how best to dispose of his collection of poles, hooks, homemade tied flies (hundreds of them), deer tails that I guess are used to create flies, wormy looking plastic creatures, neon paints, lures, etc....I know you're all probably laughing your heads off at my descriptions , but I don't know the right words for all the stuff that is in the basement of his house in Burlington County!! So, questions from the middle-aged kids trying to figure this all out: should we advertise? How and where? Through stores or newsletters? Posting ads at retailers? Through club newsletters or forums? We're not thinking a particular price and aren't counting on a certain figure but also have no idea what's fair or even makes sense. Are there people that could come in to evalute what he had and look/give us an idea? Any advice would be appreciated from this Michigan daughter trying to handle this long distance. Thanks.

P.S. My Dad caught his largest trout ever at Ken Lockwood last year after 84 years of true devotion to the sport. He wasn't a "catch and release" person, which is probably more accepted now--but he truly loved the sport, he ate the fish he caught and he was devoted to his native New Jersey. At his eulogy, I told the story that he finally sold his last boat just the past summer because, despite his failing health, "there really weren't any fish left anymore anyway." Stubborn to the end. Thanks again for any advice offered.
