I was out today in knee-to-hip deep water, fast, muddy. Fast enough where at times I was fighting to keep my balance. Tried a GRHE with a split shot. When I put on 2 splits my casting got tangled, so i went back to one. With no success, I went to a wooly bugger. Also with a single split. I found that with the water speed , I'd cast upstream , and within 5 or 6 seconds, the bugger was directly downstream of me...so I'd be stripping it directly upstream. Is this the correct way to fish a bugger? Any other tips on conditions like this are greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
