When nymphing I find myself casting and drifting with sporadic results. I'm thinking that I may be putting unnecassary "Drag" on the fly. I cast or flip upstream, mend and lift line as it moves down past me but still to few results. Granted I understand that there are other factors but can't resist the feeling that my fly is being pulled by drag. When casting and as the line[most of which is off the water] floats down I will occasionally flip the "Bowed" portion back upstream. Is this flipping a good practice or something that could be scaring the fish? Any suggestions would be appreciated as I am still a work in progress. |
