cdc trico

in my ongoing effort to try to educate myself on the overwelming amout of info on fly fishing, I came across the cdc trico. & the cdc biot comparadun. what is cdc, and how it is used in the fly pattern, as you may have guest I haven,t tied yet but hope to this fall .:confused:
