I havent ventured much beyond 6x tippets however had a need to yesterday in crystal clear water using 28 and 30 spinners. I had two problems, fist being the light tippet stayed suspended in the air while the line was on the water and headed downstream well before the tippet reached the water. The other problem was bird nest tangles and twisting of the tippet material. I was using 24-30 inches of tippet, is this way too long ? Maybe I should have used 6x leaders with only 12 " of tippet, I don't know the answer. Can someone help me out on this one ?
