BFB Directions Question
Can somebody explain to me how to get to the section that's close to the shooting range? I think you'd park in the lot where there's a small bridge. I was there only once, and we accessed the lot by taking a heavily pot-holed dirt road for 5-10 minutes (river was down to our right, if I remember correctly). I don't have a truck so I'd prefer to take some better roads. I thought there was a paved road right near where we fished - I heard (what I thought) was a shooting range nearby.
Thanks,
BH

Re: BFB Directions Question
The shooting range you speak of is right on Rt 615, which marks the western boundaries of the WMA's. The range is a little north of (and on the other side of the road from) the Roy Bridge parking area. When the Roy bridge was open, crossing it would put you on the dirt roads that cut through the WMA. That might be what you remember. Stick to Rt 615 and you'll be fine.
The driveway that goes to the Roy Bridge access lot is pretty rutted and the lot itself suffered some serious crater-like damage from the last wave of thunderstorms. Don't know if that's fixed yet. It's been two weeks since I was there. However, you should be able to find a spot for your car without driving over the rough spots.

Re: BFB Directions Question
It's a great spot and usually holds some fish, but I can't stand listening to a high-powered rifle report while I'm trying to fly fish for a trout. Kind of ruined it for me.

Re: BFB Directions Question
BH,
Turn off Rt.206 as you were going to Pa. via the Dingmans' Bridge. When you come into Layton go thru the blinking light. After you pass thru the fields you will come to a T intersection. Turn right and it's just past the dirt road on the left that leads to the FFO stretch of the Brook.

Re: BFB Directions Question
I parked my car at the Roy Bridge area about a week after the storm and didn't have a problem. Just dodge the potholes and you'll be fine, some of them are pretty big.

Re: BFB Directions Question
Epuss' direction are correct but he forgot that after you make the right at the T in the road, you go through Peters Valley. That's an artist colony. When you go through Peters Valley you have to stay to the left. Follow the signs for the Walpack Inn. The gun range is on the right and there is a parking area on the left. Good luck.

Re: BFB Directions Question
I have been told that there is a Sow with two cubs in the area now by another fisherman who saw them by the three bridges the other day. Keep a watchful eye and your ears open.

Re: BFB Directions Question
Hey all,
Got a question: I was just at the BFB a few weeks ago and I'll be at the campground this weekend, but i forget... I know that the Inn and the campground are very close. Is it walking distance though? Don't want to drink and drive and a walk would be nice!! Its driving me nuts wondering. Thanks.

Re: BFB Directions Question
Watch out for bears. They've been seeing a few of them in the area. I have a trailer in the campground. It's a great place to got to. Enjoy your time. Let me know how you like it.
