Hello everyone,
Starting this season I decided to try fly fishing after 20 years of spinning fishing.
I got my rod from cabelas 8'6" Three Forks Fly Rod Combos 5WT. I'm learning how to cast from Casting with Lefty Kreh DVD, reading this forum and and other articles about flies, etc... I went fly fishing twice already both times I fished on Saddle River in Paramus NJ. No luck at all.
Flies I try:

- something like that but darker.

- similar but darker

- and I try orange and light green salmon eggs.
My rod combo came with 9' leader and the leader lenght is not helping me at all. I can't see the fly because I can't see the end of my long leader and it only makes my casting harder.
Any input from experts will be highly appreciated. I live in northern jersey and would like to fish around here (at least for now before I get to the point where I know how to catch a fish on a fly): ramapo river, saddle river, passaic river, etc... Any places that you can recommend? Any particular flies I should use for this time of season? Any recommendation with the leader? Time of day I should fish for a trout?
Thanks for any help,
Jim
