Wow is all I can say. Although I had the opportunity the past several weeks to review the full-sized plans in depth, it took until tonight's initial presentation by the developer's team and overlays on Google Earth maps to appreciate the full scale of this monstrosity. I lost count of how many football fields would fit into each building and there are 5 huge buildings proposed. After you hear the Civil Engineer say things like "and this building will be 1000 feet by 450 feet" a few times, your eyes begin to glass over and your mind wanders to how a township can allow an applicant to get this far....

This was meeting # 1 of what I now expect on a fast track to be 12 monthly meetings and likely far more than that. There was no public comment tonight and the engineer didn't come close to describing the entire site plan let alone did we hear testimony for things like storm water management, traffic, environment impacts, geology, etc. and each one of those aspects will require cross examination and public questioning. At least two organizations opposing this that we are teamed up with in our collective fight have retained attorneys and at least one of the lawyers was a real shark. Glad she is on our side!!!

Thank you to all that showed up for tonight's meeting, we are only just beginning. I learned from "gadfly" that at least 100 people were turned away from tonight's mtg. due to a lack of space and we met in the auditorium of the local school, so the next order of business will be to petition the land use board of Franklin Twp. to supply us a larger venue. Stay tuned for more details in coming weeks and months and please remember that this will be a long, drawn-out brawl.
