Well, I guess I'm not above begging this time around. On this coming Saturday (May 30th) we will be planting a riparian buffer at the Cliffdale Inn property on the Musky. This property was recently preserved by Heritage Conservancy and the river and a cold water tributary that runs through it are in need of native trees and shrubs to protect and shade the banks and river/trib. We will also be cutting in an angler trail through the upstream forest for access along this 1,900' river frontage property.
This is the sight of
TU's first annual pig roast on June 20th and we want to show off our partnership with Heritage Conservancy who is working closely with us to buy up lots and lots of riverfront properties along the Musky for angler and public access. Also, this stretch of river will be getting restoration work/fish habitat enhancement perhaps as early as this year by Joseph Urbani & Associates out of Bozeman, MT. Joe's bedload manipulation techniques are second to none in creating a healthy river bed with lots of prime lies, deep pools connected to the limestone ground water, riffle-run-pool configuration for big trout.
Please come out and help this Saturday even if only for a short time. We meet at the Cliffdale Inn which is in the Port Murray section of lower Mansfield Twp. on rt. 57 North (above Penwell and Point Mountain) anytime from 8 am on. Heritage will provide lunch for our volunteers and I may just have to come through on my threats of free beer
Please PM me if you can make it. We will have the tool trailer, so just come on out as you are and bring a strong back. And your rod for afterward. This is a C&R stretch with signage put up by yours truly...
