Not Ranked : 0 Re: DEP sells out the Musky Some more thoughts on funding. Several folks last night commented that they are assessed a higher property tax rate because of "lakefront". Some commented that this was thousands of dollars a year on top of already high taxes. That means the towns are getting a huge amount of tax revenue from the lake front property owners already.
While the towns may not want to hear this, it would behoove them to reserve at least a portion of that tax to the lake commission. In fact if they fail to protect the lake, and remove the "benefit" of being lake front then it might be a basis for class action suit by all the lake front property tax payers. After all if they "lost" access to the lake for 4 months, they should get 25% of that money back.
We keep hearing about the thousands of lake front property owners being taxed extra, maybe its time to put some of that money back into the lake instead of 5% raises to the teachers. |
