Not Ranked : 0 350 acres riverfront preserved on Musky Last night, the Warren County Board of Chosen Freeholders voted to fund a portion of the acquisition (along with NJ DEP Green Acres and Farmland Preservation (SADC) and New Jersey Audubon Society) of a 350 acre property in WarrenCounty. This property is located on both sides of Point Mountain Road and fronts on Route 57 near Anderson Road. There was a plan before the Mansfield Township Planning Board that would have allowed the construction of 540 homes, downsized from an original proposal of 760, on this property. TU played an insignificant role in this preservation, but our partners were tremendous in getting this large parcel protected. This is next to a 25 acre parcel we are fighting to keep 79 (79!) homes from being built on to within 150' of the river (the developer looks like he may have applied early enough to circumvent C-1 protections which would require 300' buffers and not 150'). But he does not have sewer hook-up or water hook-up approval and both services are outside of the zone he proposes to build upon so there is hope that this will die a slow death.
