my return from the willow

Headed up this weekend and decided to give the willow a shot since it was in perfect shape. Stopped at hazel pool first and to my surprise had 2 hits in 15 minutes. Landed 1 which was a beautiful fish about 16 inches. Then headed upstream fished by the mueseum but didnt get any hits. took a ride up the upper beaverkill for the scenery since its my oppinion that its the prettiest place in the catskills. Ate lunch at the beaverkill valley inn which was dad's idea since hes more into the historical part of flyfishing than anything. The lady at the BVI said that we could fish if we wanted so i decided to give it a shot. Went to the bridge and tried first a wolley bugger and got nothing. Switched to a 16 copper john and bamn second cast hooked a fish. He came in like a wet sock since the water was so cold but his size and colors are what impressed me. He was 18 inches and fat as could be and his colors were almost a crimson red. A very pretty fish. HAs anyone else noticed that for some reason the beaverkill browns have distinct colors that only apply to the fish in that river. Anyway it was a memorable moment to have such luck on the hallowed waters of the upper b-kill. BY the way the temperature was 20 degrees so dont be discouraged on a 35-40 degree day be glad its not bad if you layer up your clothing. A picture is coming of the one fish on the willow.
