Today I fished the Nissittissit in Ma. There was some insect activity but not many fish were rising. I got one decent brown on a dry but the rest were on streamers. We received some significant rain yesterday and last night so the rivers were a little high. I picked up what I guess could be called the Nissittissit Grand Slam: rainbows, brookies, a brown, and a chub. Not a bad day. One rainbow though was rather peculiar. When I hooked him he came out of the water several times and had plenty of energy, but when I was able to grab him he was rigid, almost like rigamortise. The left gill plate was missing and the underlying gill was swollen and protruding. Have any of you seen or heard of this before and if so what is it. Many of these fish are stockies so maybe it's something related to that. Any thoughts.
