| Utah Fishing I just returned from fishing the Green and Provo Rivers in Utah. As usual it was wonderful. Middle Provo River below Jordanelle Dam- Fished the middle provo most of the days. Every day there was a huge BWO hatch and fish would rise for a good 2-3 hours. It was great fishing and a great way to teach my dad Fly fishing. The biggest fish on the provo was a 21 inch brown taken on a WD40 nyphming a fast run. I never got him to hand, i tried to grab him twice but couldn't get my hand around him ( i have small hands) since I didn't have a net and after my second failed atempt he broke off. It was a great fight though. Green River- Floated the Green river 2 wonderful days. I really love this river. We started off nymphing for an hour or two and as usual catching the average 17-18 inch fish waiting for a hatch. We were getting bored nymphing so we tied on an ant pattern and were busting the banks having a great time catching fish. Then the clouds rolled in and it started to lightly rain and the river exloded with risers to the bwo hatch. We put on a parachute adams and picked apart every hole we could hit until dark. I never count fish but it really was non-stop action. The next day we started right away with the ants and finished up with the BWO's. Great trip, great fishing, average fsih 17-18 inch biggest 22 inches, many 20 and over caught. It's amazing how you can get disappointed with a 17 incher a quote from my dad as he's bringing in another fish to the guides net. "Oh it's just another seventeener" My dad just started fly fishing oh will those words haunt him. I'll post pics once I get a chance, We floated with Pat Nichols on the green he's been guiding their 15 years and is excellent, this is my second year using him and been the best guide I've used anywhere. He can be contacted through Trout Creek Flies in Dutch John. Their prices are rising however so next time I'll probably rent a craft and float it myself. If you've never fished the Green I recommend it. 2 years in a row of a huge hatch and tons of big rising fish MNTrout
