I will be going to California for a week in the middle of July and it would be nice to get some fly fishing in. I am flying into San Francisco and spending 4 nights in Santa Rosa, but there are 3 nights I still haven't booked a hotel for. I am traveling with my girlfriend who is a good sport about tagging along with me using an open face reel but she doesn't fly fish, so its important that we go somewhere with stuff that will appeal to us both (ie fly fishing AND hiking, wine tasting, etc).

I've been searching around online and Northern CA seems like the place to go, I am just trying to figure out exactly where. Redding and Truckee are two areas that seemed to have good fly fishing opportunities, but I would appreciate any suggestions of where to fish and where to stay. We will have a rental car, so we can go pretty much anywhere north of San Fran.

Also, it would be great if anyone knows of some spots near Santa Rosa where I could sneak in a few hours of fly fishing.

This will be my first time out west, so any advice is much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
