ID:	5425Is this a stocked trout or a hold over a caught this in the Hohokus brook on Easter Sunday. I don't think they stocked in this area I was fishing.

    I would think it is a recent stocked brookie and either came down or upstream
    from the opening day stocking.

    I would say that the brook trout in the top picture is a native, look how fat that fish is and the colors are simply gorgeous. the other one could also be a native after all, New Jersey has it`s wild brook trout.
    Question did these fish shack like snakes when you caught them?

    What part of Hohokus brook?

    This stream has so many top release dams, creating warm shallow ponds, that thermal issues make holdovers very unlikely. Since the stream is stocked in the spring, but not in the fall, I'm guessing that you have a 2011 spring stockie.

    IMHO the fish is too big to be a product of a Hohokus Brook tributary.

    I'd have to say that it's a stocker. A lot of the brookies last year and this year had pretty nice colors. Look at my default picture. Same orange belly and pretty fins, but alas, just another stocker.
