Fly Tying

From an experienced tyer I feel at times people lose what fly tying is about. Sure it's about tying and duplicating patterns, for others it's trying to tie flies that imitates insects and hatches on their stream, others it about tying old classic flies, others it about improving patterns, others it's about coming up with that new pattern. I am quite sure you guys could add a lot more. But the point of tying is to keep in touch with the sport, have fun, a hobby, an art. Tying is different things to all. There is no right or wrong. No set rules that you have to do it this way or that way unless you are trying to duplicate an exact pattern. Fly tying is fun period. It's a hobby, craft, art or at times for me a long relaxing day in the winter that makes me think of the past fishing year and the anticipation of the things I will do, the places I will go and the fish I will catch. A cold winters day in my nice warm house with some good Cajun Music my Dog and an ice cold beer is what puts a smile on my face and peace in my heart.
