OK, so I admit that I still have no clue about choosing one type of dubbing over another for a particular pattern. And I don't want to use a particular dubbing just because a recipe calls for it. I want to know why its being used. It may just be personal preference of the recipe's author, or it may be because it imitates the natural insect better. In either case, there is still a why.

So tell us what you use, for what type of patterns, and most importantly why.

In addition, I have two follow-up questions:

1. How does awesome possum dubbing compare to beaver dubbing, since I've never seen the latter? I bought a few packages (of the possum) last year when I first started tying but haven't used them yet.

2. Does anyone make their own haretron?
