NJ surf is at its peak anytime there is a NW wind. Best if you can time it on the second day of a Northwester, with good light and moving water. I have found an hour before the start of the outgoing to be extremely productive blitz conditions. For some reason, the NW winds keep the bait tight to the beach, in turn bringing bass and blues right on the surf. The days when you hear reports of bait beaching themselves to escape usually occur on outgoing tides with a NW wind. Good luck - Mark
