Last year around this time I fished a local lake and saw trout dimpling on the surface either taking small dries or emergers however I am not sure what type of insects they were. A little research suggests midges or midge emergers but I seem to remember caddis flies(although with the caddis, I don't remember if it was at this time of year...I keep a log now.) Could anyone out there suggest what type of insects are active in our North Jersey Lakes in November and December or some fly patterns that I should try during this time. Any info would be appreciated.
