NE Catskill area fishing

i have a camping weekend planned with a few couples to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. we are planning to head up and tent camp at North Lake State Campground. this is located north west of Palenville and just slightly north east of haines falls.

one thing the husbands of the group have in common is fly fishing so we'd like to steal a few hours in the mornings befor the women get up to get some trout fishing in. the only downside is that it will have to be close fishing to the camp ground (20min drive i think is reasonable).

when looking at the map there is a stream that runs from about Tannersville along route 23A angling northwest following the road up thru towns of Hunter, South Jewett, up to lexington... at this point it looks to get larger and then finally meets up with the Schoharie Reservoir. now the Schoharie Creeks runs north out of the reservoir, so what is this creek on the map, anyone ever fish this stretch, is it large/correct type of creek/stream for trout?

thanks for the imput and help,
~Jared
