Headed out to the KLG yesterday for the first time. Got there around 8:00 after being lost for several turns (google maps ugh). The access road was closed so my Dad and I walked in and saw the gorgeous water and decided to explore...never having been there before. We passed the huge pool which already had guys in it. We eventually hopped into two different spots and he took two fish on nymphs and I lost what seemed to be a good size rainbow on either a PT or LaFontaine style gray caddis pupa.
Ended up with 1 on a March Brown comparadun. Sulphurs were hatching, and tiny black caddis as well as a fly I need help identifying. It had a distinct dark reddish look but I thought red quills were over. I saw a trout go after one and miss it but I couldn't grab the fly before it flew away. Saw tons of rising trout but couldn't pin it down. Probably the fly I had least on me , caddis, big mistake. Anyway if anyone can ID this reddish looking fly it would be great.
