Delaware Report 5/6 through5/9

Just returned from four days on the upper Delaware:
Tuesday: Decided to go to Stockport on the Mainstem in search of Large Mainstem Rainbows....BIG mistake, as myself along with numerous driftboats and pontoons and wading anglers just watched the pool from about 1:30 til 6PM...nary a bug or a rise. The most interesting part of the day was the last two hours, when I engaged with two other anglers discussing global warming, the economy, and the scam of ethanol.

Wednesday. Fished the WB in the Hale Eddy area. Superb day, catching large fish on caddis, spinners, and hendrickson emergers. Biggest disappointment: my camera's batteries did not hold their charge, so I do not have a pic of the 20" football shaped rainbow that looked like it had already been photo-shopped...

Thursday: The wind was so fierce that there were no rises until about 4PM...I was lucky to be standing right where three large fish started to rise, and caught a 20" brown that, again, had vivid color. By the time I landed the fish, the wind had picked back up, and the rises ceased...

Friday: The promise of light rain all day had me anticipating a huge olive hatch, so I planted myself (early) in my favorite gamelands spot and waited...and waited....and waited...and finally left about 4PM with nothing to show for the day except for fingers that looked like prunes. Please, if somone was there at 4:30 and a huge hatch of some sort occurred, please don't tell me.
