West Branch Zoo!

Hi all,
The WB was a zoo yesterday. I started at a friends property at Methodist pool. Plenty of risers first thing in the AM. Fished for a few hours and got a report that Hendericksons were still hatching up stream, so we took a ride. Between Hancock and Hale Eddy there was, by our count, 50+ anglers. There is a long stretch from where we were to Balls Eddy that you cannot see from the road, add at least 25 more. The Hale Eddy parking lot was spilling over to the road. We had to park on the tracks just to take a look. I packed it in at 2PM. We never looked above Hale Eddy, add at least 50 more. These fish have not had a break in 2 weeks at least. How can this fishery sustain this pressure? This is why I rarely fish the WB anymore. So, if you are going this weekend, be prepared to get to the spot you want to fish early and sit on it or, go exploring different places. The railroad tracks seem to have become a popular place to park and walk in. I thought that that was not allowed, maybe someone more local could shed some light on this. As far as we could tell, not a stretch of the river has gone untouched for awhile. GOOD LUCK!

Rich
