Well I got out today to a local steam and tried out the scuds that I tied recently. Had a great day - caught 6 wild browns.

Thanks to Willowhead, MP, & the others who gave me the scud tying tips. I found the best option the one that used mixed fur and antron dubbing and picked it out to create legs.

One question - the shellback material that I found looks great, but it's way too thick for the smaller scuds - like size 18 and smaller. I ended up using plastic bags that the dubbing came in. I cut it into 1/8" strips and it worked great. What does everyone use for shell backing?
