Hello Gentle members. I've just registered on the board as part of my prep for returning to the streams after a time-out of 35 years or so...Yes I'm an old man 8^).

I just moved to Hewitt last spring and instead of returning to the streams of my twenties (S. Branch and Muskie mostly) I'd like to fish locally and took a tour of the upper Wanaque (live 5-6 miles away) yesterday (along the Wanaque WMA I believe) and the stream looks hella nice. It being roadside is a help as I have some health issues that preclude doing a trout forced march. I'd like to hit it on 4/5 but I've done some net searches on the river and found some vague and inconclusive references to the place not being stocked any more and becoming a non fishing area? Anyone have anything concrete to tell me?

Any other members ever fish the stream or have any tips about any other close (distance from Hewitt) flowing trout holding bodies of water?

In full disclosure I usually carry both the 8' and the 5' rod in my vehicle. Hope that doesn't preclude me from board membership.

And sorry for all the electrons consumed in this post but the first post is the usually the longest I believe
