I found the problem with users not being able to see the newest messages available, and I'll be working on trying to get it fixed today. I should have realized this much earlier, but sometimes you look too deep into something that is so obvious.

For now, I believe what you can do is click the "HOME" icon on the top of the page next to the jumping trout.
